Four out of every five homebuyers would lower their offers due to poor maintenance

When viewing a property, four out of five homebuyers would consider lowering their offer if they discovered maintenance issues. This is despite the current environment of skyrocketing house prices and lightning-fast sales in some areas.

The results are based on a new survey 1 of 2,000 UK adults conducted by insurer Aviva. It reveals that more than half of viewers (54%) would “definitely” lower an offer, while a third (32%) would consider doing so. A further 7% would simply not make an offer if they discovered problems while viewing.

It should come as no surprise that four out of five homebuyers would reduce their offers if they found evidence of poor maintenance. After all, nobody wants to buy a home that needs a lot of work.

Unfortunately, many homes on the market today have been neglected by their owners. This can be anything from peeling paint to a leaky roof. And it can make buyers very reluctant to purchase the property.

If you’re selling your home, it’s important to make sure that it is in good repair. Otherwise, you could end up losing out on a sale. So take the time to fix any problems before putting your home on the market. It could make all the difference in the world.

There are many disadvantages to poor maintenance. Poorly maintained equipment can break down more often, which can lead to lost productivity and increased costs. Poorly maintained vehicles can have decreased fuel efficiency and may emit more pollutants. In buildings, poor maintenance can lead to safety hazards, such as slip-and-fall accidents. Poorly maintained infrastructure can cause disruptions in transportation and communication networks. Finally, poor maintenance can have an environmental impact, as it can lead to the release of harmful chemicals or the introduction of invasive species.
