Comparing the Asus Rog FX503 and MSI Gaming GS63

Your gaming laptop shouldn’t be bulky and heavy, but at the same time it should have plenty of power to run modern games with respectable frame rates. The Asus Rog FX503 and MSI Gaming GS63 are two very different gaming laptops that aim to offer portability while still offering good performance. Which one is better? We’ll look into that here.

The Design

The ASUS ROG GL703 has a sleek, brushed metal chassis with a matte black finish. The keyboard is backlit with full RGB lighting customization to match your setup. The screen is a 15.6-inch 1080p IPS panel that you can view from pretty much any angle without losing color or quality. It’s surrounded by a thin bezel that helps you get immersed in the gameplay experience. As for ports, the ROG GL703 only offers one USB 3.1 Type-C port (though it does offer both USB 3.1 Type A and HDMI 2.0). If you’re looking for something more powerful than the Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 Ti graphics card, we recommend taking a look at MSI’s GS63 laptop instead; it offers an 8th Gen Intel Core i7 processor paired with an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 graphics card as well as 16GB of RAM.

The Hardware

The first thing that’s important to note is that both laptops are equipped with a seventh-generation Intel Core i5-7300HQ processor. This means that it’s a quad-core processor running at 2.5GHz, which is more than enough for any gamer. For graphics cards, the ASUS has an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti while the MSI has an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050. Both GPUs have 4GB of video memory and were made for gaming in 2017 so you shouldn’t worry about performance too much either way.

The Software

The processor is where you will find the first major difference between these two laptops. The ASUS ROG features a 7th-generation Intel Core i5 CPU with a base clock speed of 2.3GHz, 8GB of RAM, and a discrete NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 graphics card. Meanwhile, the MSI features an 8th-generation Intel Core i7 CPU with a base clock speed of 2.2GHz, 16GB of RAM, and an integrated NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 graphics card.

The Screen

Both of these laptops have their strengths, with each having a different screen size. The Asus Rog has a 15-inch display, while the MSI has a 17-inch display. The Asus Rog is also lighter at 6 pounds, while the MSI weighs in at 8 pounds. If you are looking for a more portable laptop, then the Asus Rog is perfect for you. If you need to work on multiple screens or want to get some work done away from home, then you might find that the MSI laptop better suits your needs.

The Audio

Hey, what do you think about this one? I don’t know, it looks okay to me. Yeah, I don’t like that trackpad though. Yeah, I can’t stand laptops with trackpads. I’m getting a gaming laptop.

This is a conversation between two friends discussing gaming laptops. The first friend has found an Asus Rog FX503 and is asking for his friend’s opinion on it.

The Battery Life & Charging

The battery life on the ASUS ROG is a bit better than that of the MSI, but it falls short when compared to other gaming laptops. The battery has a capacity of 56wh which is less than what most gamers are used to. In comparison, the MSI has a 72wh battery. It’s still not as good as some other options out there, but it’s definitely better than the ASUS one. Charging time will vary from laptop to laptop and how much you use your laptop.

Final Thoughts

The Asus Rog FX503 is a great laptop for gaming on the go. It’s got a sleek design, excellent keyboard, bright display, good sound system, and plenty of power to run most games. The only downside to this laptop is that it has a short battery life. However, if you’re looking for a gaming laptop that’s more portable than others out there, then this is one worth checking out. The MSI Gaming GS63 is also a fantastic option because it has longer battery life and an even slimmer body. But, it also costs a lot more. So I’d recommend getting the Asus Rog FX503 if you want something with better portability but don’t mind paying just a little bit extra for the benefits.
